Freud, And The Analysis Of Dreams (1-31)

It is easy to see that dreams are connected to everyday wants and needs. But, how do we differentiate these dreams in order to make sense of them....? Sigmund Freud says that we need to take those dreams to find out what we can about the soul inside us.

(Don't try this in an altered state of reality!)

(The deepest dream cycle reoccurs in ninety minute intervals!
Example: If I fell asleep at 10:00 PM my first dream cycle would be at 11:30 PM.

Questions to ponder... (After waking from the dream)

1. What do you think your dream means?

2. Does the dream reoccur often?

3. Can you think of why this dream reoccurs? Can it be associated with something in your life? (In order to understand your dreams it is important to document them immediately after you awake from sleep.)

*My dreams (if I can remember them) are always about having a girlfriend! This is because I know I'm self-sufficient and I take care of what I need to when the time comes. I never need to worry about anything else because when I set something for myself I complete it. I haven't completed my goal of getting a girlfriend! So therefore, I am emotionally torn in this dream cycle!*

I just hope that it doesn't get the best of me because then I might do something I would regret.

Thoughts and comments are welcome!

A Step Into New Ground! (1-19)

Breaking news! At 3 P.M. today I have just discovered something grand that could possibly be linked to educational video gaming in the future. MVP 06 NCAA Baseball (MVP 06) (out today!) is developed by EA Canada and teamed with ESPN to bring what is going to be known as "ESPN Integration" which requires broadband access with a Playstation 2 (PS2) or Xbox console. When (MVP 06) boots up the integration brings something similar if not exact to, the sports ticker seen while watching ESPN. This feature is designed to take place while you are playing a game in (MVP 06.) The ticker alerts access to live updates, scores, stats, and breaking news around the sports world, and the data is updated every 20 minutes!

This would be enough to satisfy the casual and hardcore fans alike... but the fun doesn't stop there! Mike Patrick (ESPN) will be providing audio clips of the information as well! Think of the audio as a downloadable two minute movie clip. Altogether the development of the media lets the user experience both sides of the coin in this case. I find that this feature will be a refreshing change from the mundane because users will be able to tuneout other audio in the game that repeats itself with regularity.

The idea is fresh and innovative, and I hope that future developers take an idea like this and implement integration into future games. The possibilities are endless! Educational experiences could undoubtedly become fun! For example a game could have a sci-fi background, and the integration would allow the user to have access to live updates and audio in the world of astronomy. The potential is there for an innovative video game or project to be fun and informative. The question is, who will step up and take a chance to change history?

John: Many are called but few are chosen. STEP-UP young man and let's make some history! Meeting again with the Dean of MSU Communication Arts program in February 2006 to discuss just this topic. (Developing a Masters Program in 3-D Gaming). Perhaps YOU would like to join us. Keep the creative juices flowing!!!!!!!!!

Best, my friend

Jim

Composition 2 Class... A logical support of Rochelle Riley in the Detroit Free Press (1-15)

A new semester has started at OCC, which means new information will be posted on this blog quite frequently. Take a look at the short editorial done by Rochelle Riley at... http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060115/OPINION01/601150340/1069

Then read as I support her claims against the false sense of security America is under.

Best to all, -John Ott

Editorial: “Attacks on U.S Ideals”
The editorial written by Rochelle Riley explains the misinformed attacks America endures every day. Riley informs the public that the peace that is falsely being implemented is helping George W. Bush become a martyr in a false sense of praise. What falls to be represented is how times are only good for some, others that are less fortunate have to struggle through an existence that isn’t entirely the fault of their own. What is really going on here is the “war at home.”

Let’s remember some reoccurring events over the last four years that is sent the American working class into a “shadow of its former self.” Hard working Americans understand that the middle class is the essential peace of success in this country, however it seems that Bush is allowing the middle class to stretch their responsibilities to the max therefore crippling the lower class and benefiting the upper class. These tax cuts that Bush has given only benefit the wealthy and big business because it leaves the rest of the financial burden the middle and lower class. Middle and lower class Americans now find themselves unemployed with no access to health care or social security. Just like a See-Saw Bush has forgotten that the stress of his actions has left a pivot toward a section that is struggling to create the balance that used to be in place only because of their action.

The inauguration of last year and the movie “Fahrenheit 9-11” really explain the problems that occurred in the administration in from 2000- 2004. Broken promises and failed aspirations have come back to decimate the administration and those who are paying attention to this understand that the reason Americans aren’t happy with Bush is because he doesn’t follow through with what he says he would. Bush doesn’t need to care about what the public says because they don’t make a difference in his presidency. Bush gets paid off by the successfully corrupt oil company Hailiburton because he in turn makes the money by performing favors for those in the Middle East. Bush provides those in the Middle East what they want, OIL! While he and his associates are getting paid Americans suffer! Just recently Hailiburton has cashed in more money by rebuilding the coast of New Orleans while also making money selling the ravaged house parts for profit. (Riley 1).

I knew that George W. Bush inherited the job as well as the Texas Rangers baseball club and various oil stocks and screwed up those tasks beyond repair. I was however mystified when I learned that our president was a raging alcoholic and was soon after a born again Christian. Wow, I thought that type of negative reality wasn't supposed to show up in any one making decisions running the country. We the people should have our own freedoms and not have someone push the buttons on the controls because it is fun. This is the same thing we were fighting against in the Revolutionary War! We the people are government, if we have lost that right then what is the use of having people in the world? The collective America I came to know isn’t the type to just do the obligated duty to procreate. The America I know has a greater purpose. If I could I’d like to direct a statement to President Bush. Mr. President when I compete for this job I hope you’ll understand that I will win because I will have qualifications in order to run for the country, I will not allow my father to hand me the job for free.

Life, And The Problems With It! (1-9)

As I have stated before, I'm beginning my blog again retaining all of the same focus and energy I have kept in dormant for the truly important.

(The following segment contains just the facts!)
PASS Office Mission Statement
"To arrange for accommodations/services a student must make an appointment with the PASS Office for an intake interview. Any available documentation regarding a student's disability i.e. IEPC or medical reports or physiological evaluations, should be presented at that time."
************************************************************************************
Today on (1-9) began my first day of the new semester at OCC. I have to say I am not happy with what has taken place there, I will not stand by and watch as nothing gets done to improve the situation, however, I will give lenience because people involved in a big mistake get one chance to make it right. I hope those that are reading heed the advice I have just given... because if the collective can't forgive one big mistake, then the collective will find themselves unable to develop as individuals and as compassionate people.

The situation begins when my friend and I first discover that when we pull up to the building that we need to enter class from was blocked off... we didn't panic yet, because we thought we could find alternatives to get the class. As we traveled along the campus all of the alternatives were blocked with barricades, and even though we could move them no matter how impractical it may have been, the pathway was an unsalted sheet of ice. So as stated in the OCC guidebook, (for a lack of a better term) both of us went to the PASS Office.

Both my friend and I have a disability... but I believe if the problem can be solved... we have to be proactive.

The PASS Office deals with individuals who have disabilities on all account of inquires mentioned by the student to associate. If the associate can't provide the student with the help that was requested, then it is considered the right of the associate, at the very least, to provide alternative ideas that could lead to a solution. My friend and I told the associate that we needed to find a route that was safe to cross that didn't contain stairs, icy pathways, or blatant obstacles in order to get to class. I almost lost it when the associate said, "You guys can go through these paths because it uses only stairs." The associate had also mentioned, "I haven't been down the routes in awhile." As he continued back at his post talking with the other co-workers, my friend began to ask around for help, I stayed back with my eyes on the associate. She had found help that later lead to assistance down some stairs and through the muddy pathways. The pathways weren't safe enough to cross unless we had received assistance from another person. The sidewalks were unsalted, unleveled, and underdeveloped. People that find their mobility in a wheelchair would find the entire area in a condition so deplorable that even their aides couldn't assist them. I feel that if the condition was in question the associate could have gone with my friend and I to get an accurate deduction as to have some sort of idea of what to do for the future problems that would surely arise. Is it safe to say that a person without a disability could even find this somewhat dangerous?

The associate said he had called for help to assist my friend to class but he hadn't realized I witnessed him to chat his co-workers for the entire time. The help had already came and passed long before he so much as even thought of helping us. No apology was expressed by that associate specifically, although my friend and I seemed destined to an apology by someone other then the one that should be accountable for the situation.

Thanks to a non PASS affiliated counselor and some help from someone else, the counselor was able to make sense of the situation of my friend and I. The counselor that wasn't required to do anything for us... had taken the matter in her hands to correct the problem! She had called for the construction workers to move the barricades and salt the area! Witnesses that dropped my friend and I off to OCC said that they had seen the construction workers follow the task at hand. The counselor was going to contact the associate's boss.

Not long after class we had received a call from the associate's boss... the boss had claimed, "This situation wasn't the fault of anyone." THE PROBLEM IS THAT THERE IS NO OTHER SOLUTION!!!!! AS STUDENTS AND INDIVIDUALS WE SHOULD BE ENTITLED TO BASIC RIGHTS AND FREEDOMS! THOSE FREEDOMS SHOULD ENTAIL SAFE TRAVELING AND WELL-BEING OF THE INDIVIDUALS ON CAMPUS!

This isn't just a problem for my friend and I... did OCC associates forget about the others with disabilities? How would students with disabilities feel if they had to drive a long way to class only to find they couldn't attend it?! FROM THIS SITUATION IT CAN BE INTERPRETED THAT OCC DOESN'T CARE ABOUT THE ADA (AMERICAN DISABILITIES ACT) OR THE STUDENTS THAT CONTAIN DISABILITIES.

As mandated by law OCC is required to keep up with the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 which also goes in hand with some of the parts of Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990. If I find violations of the acts I will find out what can be done to stop the problems. The whole subject of the article is not to be taken as a threat, it is to promote awareness. Someone please create some solutions for those that just want to have to think about class, and not how to get to class.

EVERYONE GETS ONE CHANCE... IF THIS HAPPENS AGAIN I WILL TAKE ACTION!

Best to all, -John Ott

P.S. Please leave feedback... Is this acceptable on the behalf of OCC? I'm I in the right? What should be done to amend this problem?
