The Socratic Seminar (4-11)

I'd have to say that enough though we have a few points that weren't too relevant... altogether the seminar experience was a refreshing experience. Students were not only making a point... their points were also being discussed by other members, while other debatable issues were well thought out and mentioned. I'm going to post these articles when I find them. These articles will be up by today. I also ask that David posts his experience as well when he has his seminar on Wednesday.

Mr. Wandrie and Mrs. Hook told me that, "John you were well prepared as usual." This symbolizes that my experience was a good one.

Jim, I hope you have a good time on that trip today. I hope to hear a recap from you soon. I will see you Tuesday and I will be ready to discuss the handouts you gave me as well.

Best to all, -John Ott

For the "Draft Mischief" article use the link below... This sums up what the Bush Administration feels. Even though a date of this article isn't present, we can clearly see the numbers of troops listed in the war effort aren't "matched up."

For the "Case For A Draft" article use the link below... This is a stereotypical attack on America's credentials and the people that coincide with them.

For the "AmeriCorps Longitudinal Study" use the link below... This explains the positive effects given from joining in the armed forces. With no real dates given, this evidence sounds like a paramount of what Bush would have said in his "second term."

For the "Daniel Webster On Conscription" article use the link below... This states that conscription has been a problem long before it was ever realized. (Please note that the rhetoric in this article may be a little difficult. However, there is nothing that this group can't comprehend.) RECOMMENDED

For the "Return of the Draft" article use the link below... "We're giving you a chance to voluntarily re-enlist -- and if you don't do it, we'll screw you. And the first way we'll screw you is to put you in until 2031."

For the "Student Publication" use the link below... You will laugh at the expense of the "free" incentives the military provides while giving a life away.
